Granny's Recipe Box

Postby KevinLWilliams on Sun Jan 27, 2008 8:47 pm

Some of the recipes that could be shared may come from Granny Ethel's Recipe Box, some from other family members.

In the meantime, here is one that is really good that my Mama taught me to do for Papa Roy:

PEACH COBBLER

Ingredients:
1 stick of butter (8 tablespoons of soft margarine)
1 cup flour
1.5 cups sugar
1 cup milk
1 LARGE can of peaches

Go ahead and preheat the oven to 400 degrees when you have all your ingredients togehter.

In a pyrex bowl, melt the butter or margarine. Then, in a seperate bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and milk. Add the mixture to the melted butter (just pour it over top of butter). Drain your large can of peaches and cut them into slices, then dump them over all the rest of the mixture. Put it in oven and cook until the top is brown.

Remove the cobbler and add little pieces of butter on top of brown crust and some sugar. bake it a little longer until the new butter has melted and is "browner."

Cool it some, break out some vanilla ice cream, and eat your heart out!

Oh, and if you like peaches like me, the drained peach juice is REALLY tasty to drink, pour over the ice cream, or pour back over the cobbler!
